kitchen light

i'm on the hunt for a new kitchen light.
a chandelier or pendant to go over the table.

this is what we currently have (it came with the house).... ACK!

these are a few ideas for it's replacement...

#1- a clean and simple drum pendant...
in off-white

the large finley off-white pendant lamp
source: crate and barrel

or in natural linen
the short drum pendant – natural linen
source: west elm

a little fancier drum pendant
 the salem chandelier

maybe a hanging lantern pendant

the regal french chandelier

the carriage house chandelier

the antique copper 4-light chandelier

or maybe i should make a statement with something like this

the old world 9-light chandelier

or this
the chrome plate wood accent 33-inch 4-shade chandelier

or i something like this...
which my husband would hate
the birdcage handing lamp

many options... and i have no clue.
what do you think? do you like anything here or do you have a new option?
i'm VERY open to suggestions!

our halloween

i'm so tired.
we had a huge weekend at our house.
3 days and 2 fun parties in our home.
we're starting to create memories in the new digs.

saturday was spent teaching lucy to use the invisible fence.
it didn't go well.
and we carved pumpkins...

the pumpkins...
first we had the kids choose their jack-o-lantern faces.

cleaning out the goo.... the kids faces were priceless!

reilly and coop did a little carving with the child safe tiny saws. those little things are awesome!

unkie posing with the pumpkins

unkie talking to and kissing the pumpkin...

pumpkins at night....

.
the costumes...

my three little bears

it appears that max is DONE! notice.... we bribed him with fruit snacks!

a very sad sad unkie face!

it's impossible to get a good shot with so many kids! we tried!!!!

well, there you have it.
in a nutshell..
too much sugar, lots of meltdowns, a few smiles, and
a LOT of fun.
Happy Halloween!

copycat

does this look familiar?

my diy (copycat) sunburst mirror

it's the sunburst mirror project janell from isabella and max rooms created for her entry.
ya, i totally swiped her brillant idea.
you can find janell's diy instructions here.

now the questions is.... do i paint my mirror like janell's mirror?

keep in mind i plan on painting the room deep blue.
here is my dining room inspiration photo...

also, i bought this light for the room....

and finally, this is my dining room table (had it for years and i still LOVE it)

so what do you think?
i'd hate to paint it and regret the decision!
