scarves as art... plan b

plan a: diy acrylic frame

didn't work out, because all local distributors
didn't cut acrylic to size
or
didn't have acrylic sheets large enough for my scarf
ugh!

the scarf is 36" square
the largest piece of acrylic i could find was 34" x 46"

so
on to plan B... framing it

this is the direction i'm considering

above is a horrible mock-up
clearly the scarf will lay flat!
but
hopefully you get the idea.... a simple bamboo frame.

what do you think?
i would prefer a diy acrylic frame
but
sometimes you can't get what you want
but....
if you try sometimes, you get what you need :)

I think whatever you choose will be beautiful. Bummer about the acrylic. I know you were loving that.

  2. Can't wait to see it framed. It's just stunning and the bamboo frame/mat combo will look great.

I've bestowed a little blog award to you, the "Liebster", as I truly enjoy your posts and look forward to each new one.

Hope you had a great 40th!

  3. I know this is an old post, but I hope you see my comment and can offer a response :)

I would love to make my own acrylic frame as well, for a vintage poster that I just acquired.
It's dimensions are 44" x 32" and since I can't find an acrylic frame around that size, I thought I would DIY, but I don't know where to look for acrylic sheets, where did you find the one that was too small for your scarf?

    thank you so much!
